Art as a tool for creative learning

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Intro
In this course participants will actively work on the techniques and theory to create interesting Art Projects for their teaching context as well as develop effective lesson planning.
Participants will learn how to use elements of their local culture and history and combine them with art history (for example significant artistic movements or periods) to create Art at all educational levels.
The course includes visits to important sites during which each participant will collect visual notes (using any visual means such as sketching, photography, video). During the workshop everyone will create their own artistic work at their chosen style (painting, drawing, collage, digital collage).
On the last day of the workshop the participants will present their final artwork, as well as their primary material like sketches or photos and talk about their inspiration and influences. Ways to organize students’ final artwork exhibitions will also be presented.
Note
The participants will need to bring their own equipment for taking visual notes (camera or a smartphone/tablet with a camera, sketchbook/pencils/ink) and a laptop or iPad /tablet with the appropriate software or application in the case that they wish to develop their personal artwork in the form of a digital collage.

Corfu is renowned for its long tradition and rich culture which is unlike any other Greek island. In 2007, the city’s old city was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you will also discover a compact world of beautiful beaches and stunning mountain peaks, ancient ruins and picturesque villages. There is something for everyone on the island, whether you prefer peace and quiet or a lively cosmopolitan destination.
